We travelled over to Waterloo this past Saturday to play the Icewolves in our last league game before we get tiered off and start our Tier 1 Playoffs......

The Waterloo game was one that didn't have any implications in the standings but we wanted our boys to continue to work hard and try some things we have been continuously working on. The boys seemed ready to play but came out flat even though we scored the first goal to go up 1-0. That lead was quickly erased and we traded goals back and forth until 2-2. Waterloo out worked us and out skated us to take a 3-2 lead and kept pouring it on scoring three more to take a three goal lead 6-3 very late in the third period. In the third I kept telling our boys to "choose your attitude" we can fold up and go home or we can take it shift by shift and see where it takes us. "choose your attitude". The players responded and played some unbelievable hockey the last 4 minutes and tied the game 6-6 with just over 2 minutes to play. Waterloo ended up getting an icing call with 9 seconds left so the draw was deep in Waterloo's end. We pulled our goalie to get an extra attacker on the ice to try and win the game but we were unsuccessful and the game ended in a 6-6 tie. We would take the point but somewhere here the boys will have to figure out how to play the entire game like they did the last 4 minutes or so. Our 18 game regular season came to an end giving up just 2 losses in 18 games and not having lost since Oct.26th. Still undefeated in 21 games. It has been a remarkable run thus far.

We now await the next phase of our season. The Tier 1 playoffs. This next phase will run from Jan.27th until Mar.16th. We are still awaiting confirmation on if we play every team twice in Tier 1 or three times? You can expect most likely 2 games a weekend with the odd game during the week. Our intention heading into this next phase of our season is to have a meeting with the players. This meeting will be approx. 2 hours off ice to cover some preparation and other things. Any parents who wish to attend can also do so to see what we will be working/focusing on. Our week this week is a busy one so I doubt we will get this meeting in during the week so once our schedule is released we will book this meeting where we can.

Thanks for all your hard work boys and the support from the parents. We look forward to this next challenge and see you at practice Monday night prepared and ready to compete.
