Kitchener Girls HL Bantam Mustangs win the 7th Annual Kyla Kowalik Memorial Tournament
After losing heart-breaker games in the Semi-Finals of two previous tournaments (Barrie Sharks & Jason Cripps), the Mustangs finally came out victorious on their 3rd attempt, in Wilmot! Playing their best hockey of the season, Kitchener came out flying, defeating Waterloo (6-1), and Grand River (4-1) in their first two games.
The third game was a challenge, as they tied the fast-skating Barrie team 2-2, scoring in the dying minutes of the game to even it up. However, the tie was enough for them to make the Semi-Finals, which they played against the home town Wilmot, winning 3-0, earning their spot in the Finals.
The Championship game saw Kitchener match up once again against Barrie...but this time it was all Kitchener! The girls were fired up from the first puck drop and never looked back, beating Barrie 4-0 in the game and taking the Gold Medal!
Great work Kitchener Mustangs!!
