Blue/Red Take to the Ice!
On a blustery Saturday evening Team Blue took on their Team Red rivals at Activa. Both teams were ready and knew that this would be a great battle.

As the game began the air was filled with anticipation from both benches. Unfortunately, like in the last 4 games, Blue's opponents struck first notching a goal only a minute and a half into the game! This was not the start Team Blue was looking for. Flat feet and a poor passing decision lead to an odd man rush and a puck in the net. In typical Blue fashion however, the boys fought back and had a couple chances of their own. Late in the period and on a scramble around the Blue net, an errant puck was mistakingly directed behind the Blue net minder by a Blue forward trying to clear it. An unfortunate break for blue and a 2-0 lead for Red. Again, Blue fought back hard and cut the deficit to 1 when a Blue defender cleared the puck up the boards and a streaking forward fired a shot from the half wall which caught the Red goalie off guard. The period would end 2-1 in favour of the opponents but Blue had life!

Starting the second period, Blue took the puck deep into the Red end and cycled it well down low. A few more chances either missed their mark or were turned away by the Red tender. In another bad break, a dump in attempt was redirected by a Blue defender and snuck by Blue's goalie. Shift after shift Red kept pressing and Blue pushed back. When the buzzer sounded to end the frame, the score would read 3-1 for Red.

A quick goal to begin the third would almost seal the deal for Red but Blue kept fighting. A few more chances in the Red end would miss their mark but the fact is that there is no quit in our boys. The period would continue to be a back and forth affair and when the final buzzer rang out, Blue would be defeated 4-1 but showed some promise moving forward. This game came down to a couple bad breaks and a bunch of penalty kills but overall it was a solid effort by Blue. Things are looking up!!
