Minor Midgets Sweep Huron Perth in Quarter Final Series
The Kitchener Jr. Rangers swept their opening round Alliance Quarter Final Series against the Huron Perth Lakers.

Huron Perth, who eliminated Kitchener from last year’s playoffs were no match for the Jr. Rangers this year.


Despite having home ice advantage the Jr. Rangers started game 1 on the road Thursday night in Milverton and took game 1 of the series 4-2.

Luke Bignell with 2 goals, Ben Demoe and Josh Beach were the goal scorers for Kitchener.

Back home for game 2 on Saturday the Jr. Rangers controlled the play for the majority of the game winning 4-2 and took a commanding 4 points to 0 lead in the 6 point series.

Luke Bignell, Brandon Romany, Gianfranco Commisso and Eric Uba scored for the Jr. Rangers.  Brandon Romany’s goal was shorthanded and Luke Bignell added 3 assists to lead the way.

Game 3 took place Sunday in Kitchener and Huron Perth came out with a lot of jump trying to hold off elimination.  Kitchener maintained their composure and continued to play their game jumping into in a 4-1 lead heading into the 3rd period.  Huron Perth not wanting to be swept in the opening round came out flying in the 3rd and made a game of it getting 2 quick goals to make it 4-3.  Kitchener once again maintained their composure and added 2 of their own in the 3rd period to win the game 6-3 and sweep the Quarter Final series 3-0.

Sean Kawalec with 2 goals, Eric Uba, Luke Bignell, Justin McCombs and Josh Helgerman were the goal scorers.  Kawalec and Uba both scored shorthanded.  Jacob Schnittke picked up 3 assists in this game

Rhett Kimmel was solid in net picking up all 3 wins in the series.


The entire Jr. Rangers roster played well throughout the series!!



Kitchener now has a week off to prepare for the opponents they’ll meet in the Alliance Semi-Finals.
