Gold Jersey - Weeks 1 to 6
Hi all, I missed the first couple of weeks giving updates and breakdowns of the games.
Also please take a look at the pictures I received from a co-worker of mine that was taking professional pictures at the hometown hockey street hockey game. If you would like high res copies of the pictures just let me know.
Week 1 - Victoria earned the gold jersey in her first game ever getting two assists while skating hard and playing without fear. Assists are just as important as goals.
Week 2 - Hailee earned the gold jersey by playing great position and skating hard. As defence your play is not measured in the amount of goals you score but by the amount of goals that are scored against you.
Week 3 - Jillian earned the gold jersey by constantly bringing her awesome smile and flying around the ice and making some great passes while playing double duty at centre with Sarah while Melody was petty polar bears (I am so jealous).
Week 4 - Molly played out of her mind to earn the gold jersey. Being Molly's first year in goal I can't wait to see how my girl grows and continues to learn the hard lessons in playing goal. Stay alert, even if your own team has the puck.
Week 5 - No game
Week 6 - One of our defensive pairs had a rough game two weeks prior. For the coaching staff that translates into a great learning opportunity. After a quick talk about covering for an aggressive play by your defensive partner in the neutral zone, the girls seemed to hear the message loud and clear. Grace earned the Gold jersey after beating out Hannah in a hard fought game of rock paper scissors. You both played excellent position in all three zones on the ice. On a side note, I think that was the loudest Lady Ranger cheer after the game I have hear this year. Our girls rock!
