OUR FAMILY. THEIR TEAM
ON SEPTEMBER 14TH THE MINOR ATOM SEEDED TEAM TRAVELLED TO PETERBOROUGH TO COMPETE IN KAWARTHA LAKES AA TOURNAMENT AND KICK OFF THE SEASON!
We went 3-1 in the Round Robin facing some tough competition. We earned the right to play in the Semis on Sunday against the Flamborough Sabres, who we defeated us in the Round Robin. The Sabres eliminated us from the tournament by a score of 2-0.
As much as we wanted to win the tournament and compete! This weekend wasn't really about the Hockey. It was about teammates getting to know each other on and off the ice forming friendships. It was about parents getting to know each other and getting to know all the players by supporting and cheering for them. IT WAS ABOUT FORMING OUR HOCKEY FAMILY!
We truly believe to have success on the ice you need everyone going in the same direction. That means parents, coaches and players on the same page with the same TEAM goals. After spending time with the other Coaches, players and parents we are confident that we are going to be a great hockey family. This was evident in Peterborough when I walked out of the Hotel in Peterborough and saw all of the boys fishing together. We saw boys sharing their fishing rods, we saw boys helping other boys bait their hooks. There was a ton of excitement and laughter.
We also had a team BBQ in the courtyard of the Hotel where we all shared a meal as a team watching the boys play and fish. Thank you to everyone that organized this event. We are looking forward to many more.
We as Coaches couldn't be more pleased with our player selections and the support we have received from the parent group.
We are looking forward to an amazing season!
