Welcome Everyone to the 2020-2021 Evaluations!
First off, we would like to thank everyone for being extremely patient in this years minor hockey process. I'm sure you all have many questions regarding this season/evaluation process so hopefully we will cover it all if not at least most of the information given to us as we progress.

We want to make this very clear, evaluations are not like tryouts.
The OHF and other governing bodies including public health have determined that tryouts at this time mix too many people and are beyond the scope of our participation allowances.

As such we require a way of selecting our evaluation groups with limited movement amongst skill levels. To conduct these safely and quickly KMHA is operating all evaluations concurrently.
Coaches are expected to work together moving players and attending each others’ evaluations to rate players.
All Red team players from last season will start at the first evaluation (Sunday, September 13th Activa PJD @ 5:15pm)

The following information is an update regarding evaluations that are scheduled to begin Sunday, September 13 with our team.

Coming to Activa sportsplex on evaluation day, there will be a sign in table located at the door of the facility. We will try to conduct sign ins outside if weather permits so please come half an hour before ice time giving you more time as oppose to conducting sign ins inside which only permits you to be there 10 minutes prior to ice time. The big KMHA tent will be at Activa and the small tent at Sportsworld. Make sure everyone in line are physical distancing.

The coaching staff will not be conducting scrimmages or games during evaluations.
We will not take walk-ons for evaluation participation.
We will not run battle drills or contact drills.
We will encourage players on ice to practice physical distancing.

The Tier 1 (AAA) 2011 age group will proceed as follows with four evaluations over a week period, prior to finalizing our roster.

We will be assigning an evaluation ID number to each player and we will email that to each family separately prior to our second ice-time. The ID number will be kept confidential and only the families will know their players personal number to follow throughout the evaluations. This ID number essentially is a glorified pinnie/jersey number that you would have for normal tryouts
None of the Red team players returning will be released after our first evaluation and are guaranteed to return to the second evaluation or some may be sat out so that a maximum of five other players from other tiers can be evaluated.

IMPORTANT SELF SCREENING (The attached "OHF Health Screening Questionnaire" This document must be reviewed and filled out 4 hours before prior to each on or off ice team session. Families have to complete the screening document with their child to ensure they have no Covid symptoms)  Any players showing symptoms, MUST NOT attend a team event and will be responsible to notify the Coach directly.

Sunday, September 13 (Activa PJD @ 5:15 pm)

The first skate will be reserved for any returning Red team players from last season that are registered and have paid their "period 1" base registration fee. Please make certain you have gone online to pay for registration since ONLY players that have paid will be permitted to skate for the evaluation process.

We are only allowed a total of 20 skaters on the ice and this includes Coaches running the evaluation. Due to contact tracing, it will be more important than ever to know exactly who is skating at any given evaluation and players can not just be added last minute if they have not paid the registration fee.

Thursday, September 17 (Activa Alumni @ 5:30 pm)

The second evaluation skate will include players from other levels that we would like to invite to skate with the Tier 1 level for assessment. The Coaching staff will be following the evaluations of the levels below to determine if a handful of players would be able to compete for a spot on our roster. If our Coaching staff invites players to skate with us at any evaluation, we will sit players that automatically have earned a spot on our roster in order to help facilitate the 20 skater maximum. (players that "sit" will not be released and must be guaranteed a spot on our roster as per KMHA guidelines)

Any player that joins our evaluations will already be given a confidential ID number from tier 2/3 evaluations. Players that are moving on with our evaluations will have their ID number posted to our team webpage. If an ID number is not posted for your child, we will notify the tier 2/3 teams that the player has been released and I will follow up with the family to share our assessment and feedback on areas that the player could continue to focus on for future opportunities with this team.

Saturday, September 19 (Activa Alumni @1:45 pm)

Third evaluation skate, same process as above and possible team selection.

Sunday, September 20 (Activa PJD @1:30 pm) FINAL EVALUATION
