I wanted to let everyone know I am thinking of our KMHA families and wishing everyone good health during this difficult time.

I attended a KMHA virtual meeting recently for Coaches and it was shared that we expect a return to hockey as planned for September tryouts.

At the AAA level and U-11 age group, we will be looking for the following qualities in our Players;
Strong Skating, Hockey IQ, Compete, Quality Passing, Strong Shooting Skills and Positive Teammates as our primary objectives. Goalies must have a High Level of Focus, Show Good Mechanics and Work Ethic. Our goal is to have every player at this age group feel they have a fair opportunity to earn a spot on this team.

Please be realistic about the potential for your child to play AAA hockey. If your child is playing House League or Select, it is an enormous jump to AAA hockey. I have heard parents in the past say "tryouts are an extra skate". Tryouts are designed to assess players for the level they are trying out for, with the belief that they could play high level Rep hockey. I am one to encourage players to tryout for a higher level of hockey than they are currently playing, however, please be mindful of their true abilities when signing up for AAA tryouts so that we can be fair to the players that are fighting hard for a position on our team. The best way for Coaches to assess players at this level is to witness similar skilled players compete against one another in order to evaluate if they can make a jump to AAA hockey.

Enjoy your time together and be safe,

Coach Sean
