U-11 AAA INFORMATION
Submitted By Sean Rutherford on Monday, June 22, 2020
I wanted to let everyone know I am thinking of our KMHA families and wishing everyone good health during this time. Hopefully, you are beginning to reconnect with some of the friends and family that we have been deprived of for so long.

KMHA recently released a link for "intent to play" that you can find on the main home page. No financial obligation is required at this time, however this will help with the planning process if you can take a few minutes to register.

As an expectation for fall tryouts at the U-11 AAA level, we will be looking for the following qualities;  Players- Strong Skating, Hockey IQ, Compete, Quality Passing, Strong Shooting Skills and Positive Teammates as our primary objectives.  Goalies- High Level of Focus, Show Good Mechanics and Work Ethic. Our goal is to have every player at this age group feel they have a fair opportunity to earn a spot on this team.

Please be realistic about the potential for your child to play AAA hockey. If your child is playing House League or Select, it is an enormous jump to AAA hockey. I have heard parents in the past say "tryouts are an extra skate". Tryouts are designed to assess players for the level they are trying out for, with the belief that they could play high level Rep hockey. I am one to encourage players to tryout for a higher level of hockey than they are currently playing, however, please be mindful of their true abilities when signing up for AAA tryouts so that we can be fair to the players that are fighting hard for a position on our team. The best way for Coaches to assess players at this level is to witness similar skilled players compete against one another in order to evaluate if they can make a jump to AAA hockey.

Enjoy your Summer,

Coach Sean
