10th Annual Burlington Rep MD Challenge Cup Tournament Champions!
Apologies for the delay in posting this article...but better late than never!! :)
The U16 MD Red crew headed out to Burlington on the weekend of Nov. 26-28 to participate in their second tournament of the season...and returned as champions once again!!
Facing a very familiar rival, the Sarnia Jr. Sting, in the first game on Friday...the 2 teams skated to a hard-fought, 1 - 1 draw.
The players knew they had to shake a few cob-webs off but were very determined and were looking forward to their second game on Saturday.
Burlington Red was up next and the boys played a solid game earning a shut-out victory.
Game 3 saw the team facing an extremely hard-working Barrie Colts squad that ended up seeing the Jr. Rangers skate away with a well deserved 3-2 win.
Off to the semi-finals on Sunday against the hometown Burlington White team saw the fellas play a complete game from start to finish...earning a 2-0 victory.
The excitement of making it to the championship game vs a strong Cambridge Hawks team that had been on quite a roll of late...was a huge motivational factor for the blue, red and white...
The game was incredibly entertaining with some high-level, back and forth play from both teams.
The end of regulation time saw the 2 teams tied at 3-3...and the game headed into 3 vs 3 overtime.
About 3 minutes in, the Jr. Rangers showed their grit, skill, and determination...and pulled out a huge, 4-3 win.
We've said it before...but the coaching staff is so incredibly proud of this group of young men...and their continued desire to be the best that they can be.
Thanks to the parents and fans as well...for all of your continued enthusiasm and support of our team...It is truly appreciated!
Congratulations boys...Champions once again!!!
