Wednesday Lightning
Continuing the “Practice Ice Games”, the Lady Rangers faced the Saugeen Maitland Lightning at home Wednesday evening.

Playing with a full roster for the first time in “I don’t know how long”, the ladies had a strong first period of play. Good D-Zone coverage, smart puck movement and a great PK had all three lines playing well. One too many penalties in the second cost the game’s first “pinball” goal (darn deflections), with a long shift hemmed in their own end contribution to the second. Down two heading into the third, a newly ran face-off gave more shots in one shift than an entire previous period. Although their strong play continued, the Lightning held on for the win.

The “rollercoaster” ride continues in a season of game-to-game highs and lows. Consistency remains key. We need to continue to work on the “U18A” foundation of D-Zone coverage, proper F3, and options in breaking out every game. While some foundations are not as important as others, the foundations of “body health, education, employment and home” absolutely matter.  Continue to strive to work on all the good components we discussed last night that will make all those “foundations” as strong as possible.
