Snowed in Saugeen
The Lady Rangers travelled North-West to Mildmay to face the Saugeen Maitland Lightning.

Perhaps starting the game with the net off was a sign of what the trip home would become. None the less the ladies had a great start to the game with many good breakout choices and options and solid F3 play. Taking advantage of the first “full” twelve minutes of play, the Lightning struck with just 0.6 seconds left in the first to go up by one. A strong second with several blocked shots, great D-Zone coverage, and several scoring opportunities (so close, yet so far!) had the goalies working hard at both ends. A momentary lapse in F3 coverage had the Lightning capitalizing on a late period two on one to go up by two heading into the break. Both teams kept things tight in the third with the Lightning holding on for the “W”.

For the third game in a row, we felt your level of play was very strong and consistent. Good breakout options, no running in the D-Zone, great F3 coverage, many blocked shots and more often than not, being like “Mary Lloyd” with our D-Zone face off, have all made a difference in your play. Although the timing seemed off in the third, you certainly had the right ideas in what you wanted to do.

Continue to work hard, strengthen the foundation, and finish the 2021 – 2022 season strong.
