Game 4 Recap
Game #4 Saturday November 19th
Eagles VS Giants

The Eagles were 4 players down this week due to sickness or injury.  So right from the beginning the team knew it was going to be a tough game with a shortened bench.  But the boys were ready for the challenge.

The first period went by fast.  It was an evenly matched period, with not much to note…no goals, no penalties with very few whistles.

Early into the second period, #15 Peplow broke into the zone, took a shot just inside the circle, but rang it off the post.  The Eagles had several other close calls, but just couldn’t get the puck in the net.  With just under 2 minutes left on the clock, the Giants scored their first goal.

The third period proved to be the hardest.  Not only was it a fight to the bitter end for the Eagles with unsuccessful shots on net and amazing saves, but exhaustion started setting in from a shortened bench.  Early in the period the boys got caught up in a line change and were served with a “too many men on the ice” penalty.  It was a weak call, but thanks to #77 Godfrey for serving it.  Shout out to  #1 McNamora, the Eagles substitute goalie, who made several magnificent saves that caused the crowd to erupt.  Yeah Jack, that thundering applause…that was for you!  Half way through the period the Giants scored their second goal of the game.  The boys were feeling the pressure and the fatigue.  With 16 seconds left on the board #11 Bell got our only goal of the game.

Final Score: 2-1 Giants

Later in the locker room #15 Peplow was awarded The Player of the Game Pylon for his solid game play; some near misses and giving his all on every shift.

Special thank you to Jack McNamara from U13 who stepped up and filled in for our goalie and played an absolutely amazing game.
