Eagles VS Oakridge
First game of the London Oakridge House League Classic Tournament and the Eagles were confident but looking a little nervous, at the start.
The boys were a bit sluggish at the start of the first period. Only 4 minutes in and Oakridge had their first goal. For the remainder of the period the Eagles were just trying to get in their groove.
The first half of the second period was much like the first period. Oakridge was served a hooking penalty, but the Eagles couldn't capitalize on the power play. But at 3:59 #14 Gavin rushed in and deked out the goalie, popping one in, assisted by #15 Peplow. It seemed that was all the Eagles needed to get going...because 52 seconds later #91 Banton made a beautiful cross ice pass to #9 Hancock, who buried it. At the end of the second period the Eagles were up by one.
Third period was fast paced and a lot of back and forth. At 4:43 #9 Hancock received a 2 minute penalty for interference. The Eagles did a good job at killing the penalty. However, shortly after the penalty kill Oakridge scored their second goal, tying up the game. But not for long!! With only 1:43 left on the clock #91 Banton scored the game winning goal, assisted by #14 Gavin.
Final Score: 3-2 Eagles
Later in the locker room #91 Banton was awarded the Player of the Game Pylon for scoring the game winning goal and playing all around good game.
