Read on to learn more about a change to
our tournaments including hotels, a word from our trainer and sponsorships and
also our next social.
Hi Players and Parents!
In addition to the team Telegram chat, we
use this as a means to connect with parents and share information about
upcoming schedule additions, events, and other news worthy topics. For more timely updates, please check the
Telegram chat often.
CHANGE TO TOURNAMENTS
Cambridge Minor Hockey had to cancel the
Early Bird classic on account of the Twin Pads being added at the Sports Park
not being ready in time for October.
They graciously let us know well in advance. In place of the Early Bird tournament, we
have now added the John
MacDonald Memorial Tournament in St. Catharines. The tournament takes place October 20-22, which
is the week after the Cambridge Tournament was set to take place. Please update your social calendars to
reflect the new dates.
We have chosen the Four Points Sheraton St
Catharines Niagara Suites for our team hotel. For those interested in staying
down, we have reserved a block of rooms.
You have until September 20 to make your reservation at which
time the block of rooms will be released.

and locations, please visit our calendar here.
SPONSORSHIPS
Sponsorship activity can only begin once
our budget receives approval from the association. However, seeing as we have a LOT of fun
planned for this season, start to think about who you might approach for some
corporate sponsorships for this fall. We
will provide an approved letter and suggestions for approaching family and
friends closer to the start of the season.
SOCIAL
Our next social has been scheduled for
Sunday September 10. Please circle that
date on the calendar. We’ll aim to get
everyone out for some bonding time before the season starts. We ask our athletes to buy into a system to
put us in the best position possible. In
order for that to gel, it’s great for the boys to connect before we hit the
ice.
TRAINING CORNER
Did everyone see Trainer Scott’s email
from a few weeks ago? I love the
knee-down tennis ball drop drill. There
are some simple conditioning exercises to make sure our athletes are in peak
physical condition listed on the site.
My favourite section is the coordination and reaction section which can
be found here. Some great exercises to do in pairs or with
Mom or Dad.
Have you checked out your equipment over
the summer? I was chatting with a parent
who went to G&G Skate training last week to discover a stick that had
shrunk by 2” since May. Weird how that
happens. We’d suggest trying on all
equipment in early September and beating the rush if updates are required. With supply chain issues still plaguing
manufacturers, don’t get caught when it is too late.
That’s it for our Ep2, summer
edition. On behalf of the coaching staff, enjoy the
summer break. Please reach out with any
questions or suggestions.
