The Red team once again was faced with a tough opponent, but good passing, on-ice communication and a bit of luck helped the Red to a third victory in as many games.
Excellent goaltending by both Green’s Sirin and Red’s Venning kept both teams off the scoreboard until 3:24 remaining in the second, when Martin scores – Schleimer battles hard for the puck at the blue line, Martin carries it to the net and scores blocker side, with Yee poised at the circle waiting for any rebound.
With the second period clock ticking down, Hicknell gets a tripping call while trying to stop a Green rush in the neutral zone.
Red seals the deal with 4:06 remaining in the third, when Todd skates in hard down the left boards, around the net, and passes to Thornton, who flicks it in for a 2 - 0 lead.
All three teams we played so far have been great teams, but we’ve somehow managed to take home the wins. Keep up the communication and playing as a team, and we will continue to be a strong opponent throughout the season.
