Blue Escapes With 1-0 Win!
A game dominated by Team Blue for 2 periods, turned into a squeaker, as Blue took their foot off the gas in the 3rd period. We'll have to play for 35 minutes every game if we want to have succes in the playoffs.
The game started well for Team Blue. The puck was passed from side to side, as well as up the ice, to keep the Ice Wolves from gaining any momentum. The first 25 minutes of the game was spent in the Wolves' end. Zam and Ody had good games for Blue on the back end. Zam with his speed on the rushes and Ody with his ability to keep the puck in the opposition end, either with a shot or dumping it to the corner.
Cliner scored our only goal late in the first, with a rush from our blue line, with Zam giving him the puck. Near misses by Shaun, Moose, Olivia, Josh, many by Jared, and a host of other chances kept the Wolves close. We found the cross bar, the post, the goalie pads and slid the puck just past the net.
Our Team Blue game faltered in the 3rd. Too much passing without thinking, and a general malaise to our game gave the Wolves some life. This led to 2 breakaways stopped by Breckin, as well as many near misses. I think we had alot of players who were nursing a cold, the flu, or just tired, and we didn't skate nearly as well to finish the game. Fortunately the clock ran out before Waterloo could find the back of the net.
We all need to bring our "A" game tomorrow for 35 minutes, when we travel to Burlington to face the Bulldogs.
