A Win's a Win!
It wasn't pretty, it wasn't what we've been accustomed to over the last 12 games, but it was 2 points in the playoff round robin. Playing just well enough to win, Team Blue scored a 3-0 win last night over the Brantford Saints.
Team Blue reverted to early season form in the game and felt that individual effort worked better than team play. Many pucks were lost at both blue lines as our players tried to rush past 1, 2 and sometimes 3 Brantford players.
There were moments of brilliance. The first goal was a result of keeping the puck in the opponents end and passing to teammates. Robbie past back to Zam twice, the second time from his stomach, as Zam ripped the puck past the opposition goal. Our second goal was scored as a result of a good individual effort as Robbie took the puck to his off wing and backhanded it past the goalie. Our 3rd goal came off a clear from Ryan to Jared who had just stepped out of the sin bin. Jared muscled past the defender for a breakaway, deked the goalie and deposited the puck in the net.
We did have a few players playing a different position, most notably Ryan at center and a very tired Ody at right wing, center and left wing. Don't worry Ody, the puck will go in for you.
Despite limited action, Breckin had to be sharp, as Brantford had a number of good scoring chances.
We'll put it down to Tuesday Blues, as opposed to Blue owning Tuesday.
We'll bring our A game this weekend as we play the TimberWolves on Saturday and Phantoms on Sunday. Looking forward to our Sibling Fan Appreciation after Sunday's game.
Go Blue!
