4 Point Weekend Gives Coach Grey Hair!
Team Blue skated to victory twice on the weekend, with wins over Burlington and Brantford. The end result was the same but the way we got there was very different. Here's hoping we play the rest of the season like we did on Saturday.
Team Blue passed their way to a 3-0 victory over Burlington on Saturday. Everything the team has worked towards, came together for 35 minutes. We spread the ice, cycled the puck and protected our goal. The Shark was in fine form as he confidentally stood tall and saved any chances the Bulldogs had.
Josh got us started with a shot from the high slot, with a helper from Jared midway through the first. It took until early in the 3rd to get back on the board when Cliner had a beautiful pass to Mac who banged it in. Moose rounded out the scoring midway through the 3rd with helpers from Cliner and Wentz.
This was Team Blue playoff hockey at its finest. All our players raised their game and played as a team.
Sunday's 1-0 victory over the Saints started well, as we dominated the first period, had many chances, but couldn't find the back of the net. From there, our play went down hill. We held our sticks tighter and tried to do everything by ourselves. At this time of the season other teams are too good to skate around. We have to move the puck to our teammates. As the game went on we saw more individual effort and less team play.
One of our few bright spots of the morning came in the 3rd when Zam passed to Robbie, who shot, and Jared banged in the rebound. Our lone star of the game was Breckin, who turned away any shots that came his way.
A good team can win without playing their best. A great team brings their best to every game.
Team Blue, which one do you want to be?
