Half Game Nets Positive Result
Despite it being an exhibition game against Ayr, Team Blue
came ready to play this morning.
Unfortunately our officials did not show the same level of preparedness.
With the promise that a second official was en route, Team Blue had a 30 minute warm up that attempted to balance out keeping warm, but also staying fresh, and still mentally focused on the game ahead.
Team Blue did a good job keeping the puck in the offensive zone. With Ayr collapsing around their own crease, clean scoring opportunities were limited. We must remember that our opponents can easily defend against individual play. The key to Team Blue hockey is to spread out and move the puck.
At the first intermission we adjusted our strategy to engage the D in the offensive zone un order to disperse the Ayr swarm. Puck movement to the blue line in the 2nd period earned Zam Man an assist with a pass over to Wentz who fired a bouncer into Ayr’s net putting us up 1-0.
With the late start, our game had been set to 10/10/12 timing. However, moments after the Shark switched out with the Monster our game was abruptly and unceremoniously ended to keep the rest of the day on track. #fizzle
Special shout out to Wentz who also won Saturday’s ‘Crashed Ice’ time trials.
Coach Dewar returns as our regular Bench Boss next week.
