Fast Out of the Gate - Then Hang On!
Team Blue hosted the St. Catherines Hurricanes yesterday afternoon and eventuallly found a way to win 4-2.
The game started well, as Team Blue did what was necessary to control the puck and get to the Hurricanes' net. Cliner got us started early, on a great individual effort. He skated back, caught the St. Catherines best player, lifted his stick, got the puck, and skated the length of the ice and buried the goal. A great two way play which was rewarded twice - getting the turnover and getting the goal.
Zam followed that up with a shot from the point that got through. Assists went to Robbie and Cliner.
Team Blue then went into a funk which saw the opponents start to control the game. Remember Blue, it takes 35 minutes of good team play to win a game. We gave up a goal late in the second and early in the third to find ourselves tied.
Coach Ian then did some line juggling, and it paid off. Moose blasted one in 3 minutes later for the game winner with assists going to Josh and Cliner. Cliner rounded out our scoring with an empty netter with 2 seconds left.
A big shout out to Cliner for a 4 point night. (although you have to remember what coach told you about your last goal)
Team Blue finishes the round robin playoff next weekend against the TimberWolves and then waits for their first round playdown opponent.
Go Blue!
