Team Blue Draws First Blood in Playdowns!
With playoff fever hitting every Minor Atom division, Team Blue showed a little nerves in the first half of last nights game. Luckily the game is 35 minutes long, and a 1-0 deficit in the first period was reversed in the 3rd and led to a 4-1 win over the Waterloo Ice Wolves.
All hands were on deck for last night's game early, and our pregame was longer than normal. Coach Ian only has so much to say, (some would say very little), and our team sat in a warm room, raring to go, for too long. We came out a little flat against a revved up opponent. We held our own early on but gave up some good scoring chances. Luckily Breckin was on fire and saved a couple of sure goals with his cat like reflexes.
Team Blue has to remember that no team will give us the win. We have to play our game, which is passing the puck and tough forechecking.
We came to life in the 3rd. On the first shift Moose turned on a pass from Tristan and banged it home. 2 minutes later Ryan scored the game winner, with a blast from the point, after a faceoff win by Moose. With 8 minutes to go Jared made it 3-1 on a nifty inside/outside move, with an assist from Cliner. 3 minutes after that Mac banged home Moose's rebound after a pass from Jared.
A great third period by Team Blue. Remember to focus on the team game, not individual play and we will have success.
Next up for Blue, is Saturday at Albert McCormick, against the same Waterloo Ice Wolves.
