It Begins At Home
The schedules have been set and the Rangers will open the season at home. Through six preseason games the Lady Rangers managed to outscore opponents 12-10 en route to a 2-2-2 record, proving there is some power upfront, and with the exception of the first game against a heavily favored Waterloo ‘A’ team, the defense in front of young net minder Sam has been stellar.

Finishing the final tune up game the Belles in Blue faced a young, upcoming team from West Seneca south of the border. Although the first period was tight, the Rangers held a 2-0 lead on markers from Kaitlyn and Ayrial. Shortly afterwards the flood gates opened with Olivia and Makenna finding the back of the net as well. Kaitlyn and Mackenna finished with two goals apiece, Ayrial with a Hat Trick.

Beyond the names on the actual score sheet, it was the team play that was the highlight of the night. Goaltender Sam registered her second straight shutout and has allowed only 4 goals in her last five games. Standing in front of her is an impressive half dozen girls whose quick feet and quicker sticks have managed to keep the puck to the outside. Led by returning Lady Rangers Michelle and Victoria the defense has worked well together in a very short time. With Jenna, Anika, Alana and Jessica rounding out the competent blue line, there seems early indication that frustration awaits opposing attackers.

Upfront the Kitchener team gets even deeper. With terrific playmakers like Isabelle, Kaitlyn and Hailey centering the three lines, and goal crease presence like the crafty Olivia and Sophia, the remaining wingers of Tanis, Makenna, Ayrial and Morgan are sure to help the Rangers success this year.

Season opening weekend will see the Hornets from Oakville visit the Rangers on Saturday, and then the girls will travel to Fergus Sunday to take on the Grand River Mustangs. With a very large Divisional Loop the girls are certainly ready to take on the rest of Southern Ontario in the LLFHL.
