Minor Midget Jr. Rangers 2-2 at Gold Puck Tournament
The Kitchener Minor Midgets were in the Waterloo Gold Puck tournament and went 2-2 over the weekend.

Kitchener v Sudbury Nickel City Sons - KJR 3-2 Win
The Minor Midgets started out well Friday.  Their first game they faced the Sudbury Nickel City Sons.  The Jr. Rangers dominated from start to finish outshooting their opponents 37-12.  However, despite the lopsided shots the Jr. Rangers couldn't find the back of the net on their opporunities.  They took the game 3-2.  Matt Mercier scored a pair, including one on the power play while Bobby Young scored the game winner in the 3rd.  Owen Lane and Jason Willms had 2 assist each while Ryan George's patience at the defensive blue line help set up the game winner.

Kitchener v London Jr Knights - KJR 2-1 Win
Their second game on Friday the Minor Midgets faced their league rivals London.  These two teams have met in prior tournaments and league games with Kitchener holding a 2-0-1 record against London heading into this game.  This game was an exciting fast paced game with London throwing everything they had at the Jr. Rangers. London jumped out into an early lead a minute into the game but the Jr. Rangers kept their composure and continued to work hard.  Owen Lane tied the score half way through the 1st with Matt Mercier and Jason Willms assisting.  Matt Mercier scored the game winner late in the first period with Lane and Willms getting the helpers.  The game went back and forth the rest of the way with Kitchener killing off London's only PP of the game in the 2nd period to hang on for the victory.  Alex Knispel was solid in the Jr. Ranger net.  Shot on goal were 28-27 Kitchener.

Kitchener v Niagara North Stars - Niagara 1-0 Win
Saturday the Jr. Rangers faced the other undefeated team in their division the Niagara North Stars.  Niagara is a fast, aggressive team that likes to play the body.  Kitchener stayed with them stride for stride and hit for hit in this exciting game.  The North Star crashed the net harding forcing Kitchener goalie Andrew Vawynsberghe to battle through saves and players in his crease.  The only way the North Stars were able to get one past Andrew was to push him over the goal line with the puck under him before the whistle went.  Kitchener had their chances but couldn't find the back of the net againt Niagara's goaltending, one of the top in the province.  Kitchener outshot Niagara 26-16

Kitchener v Brantford - Brantford 3-1
The Jr. Rangers faced one of the teams they're battling with for 2nd place in their league the Brantford 99ers.  The Jr. Rangers goal scoring slump continued in this game as the Rangers outshot Brantford 25-9 but couldn't score despite having their chances.  Owen Lane scored Kitchener's only goal on the PP from Ryan George and Ben Allen to break Brantford's shutout.

League Play:
The Jr. Rangers are battling for 2nd place in the Alliance East.  They have 3 road game remaining before their Christmas break.  The Jr. Rangers travel to Brantford to take on the 99ers Tuesday night at the Gretzky Center.  Puck drop is 8:30.  The boys then travel to play Windsor and Lambton Saturday and Sunday to finish of their season against the West division.
