Work & More Work
We had a busy weekend this weekend with a game, practice, and some team bonding with a local fundraising effort.

This team seems to amaze me. We have been working the boys really hard and challenging them in person to work on certain things. The hard work and dedication is starting to show once again. We had an opportunity to play St Catherines this weekend for a share of first place and the first team to 6 wins. The game started off slow with us going down 1-0 in the first period. We were threatening but couldn't get the first goal to go in. Once the first goal went in we came on and never looked back cruising to a 6-2 win. The "Sheriff" name bar went to Evan C who played an outstanding game and worked hard for three periods. The honourable mention went to TJ E who also played a relentless style. We have been asking him to shoot the puck more and he did and was rewarded with a goal. The boys were pumped to move into first place and the coaching staff is proud so far of their efforts. We are on a modest 4 game winning streak and lead the league in goals for. We currently sit third in goals against in the league. Way to go goalies lets keep this rolling.

On Sunday we headed into practice after a few hours of fundraising and the team vibe was VERY positive. We opened the practice with a lot of skating and uptempo work with little rest for the first 20 minutes. The kids all worked hard and after they skated we spoke with them about staying on top and having a championship attitude. The championship attitude is a theme we have been building on weekly with the boys. We told them good teams never give up and always work....win or lose. We also chatted with them that there's a balance between work and reward and for their efforts they earned some reward so we moved to a controlled scrimmage and shootout to end the practice. The practice as a whole was great and they had fun.

The practice vibe will hopefully continue this Wednesday as we prepare to head into a break from league action and to our tournament in Guelph. We look forward to seeing everyone in Guelph!
