If you believe that ‘Home is where the Heart is”, don’t mention it to this year’s Kitchener Lady Ranger Atom ‘A’ Team. To the hard working Blue Collar Belles of the 2013/2014 campaign, the Heart goes where they go.

After only the first two exhibition games, the Lady Rangers have each shown that they fully invested in to doing everything possible to help push their team to great heights, working together as one. With last night’s stunning come from behind victory over a very talented and speedy team from Waterloo to today’s offensive showcase over a fleet of foot Flamborough team, the Girls have already shown that they wish to impose their will.

Puck possession and puck battles have been the key to their early success, not a single player has backed down or refused to go into the ‘dirty areas’, often times coming out of a scrum to make a play or advance the teams position. Their passion is in their play, their drive, and their determination, and it can even been seen on the face of the injured Madison who ravenously cheers her Sisters on from the glass. With only a month until Opening Day, the extent of the injury to the Dancing Defender has not been disclosed. Trainer Melissa will only comment that it is an ‘upper body injury’ before refusing to answer further questions.

By the way they move the puck up ice and protect it; it would look as though this team has already subconsciously agreed on one goal, Compete. Compete they do, moving up the ice the same way a boulder moves downhill, fast, side to side and without any indication that they will stop for anyone or anything. And it is not just the imposing forwards making plays, at any time any one of the defensive core will jump into or even start the rush, keeping the puck down low and creating chances.

With so much of the real season to come, one can only look on wonder what is really possible? Practice and precision drills from Coach Dave will surely feed the hockey hungry appetites of seventeen Ladies just itching for more. Like meat being thrown to lions at the zoo, you only need to throw one frozen rubber puck on the ice for the Girls to unleash their inner beast. So calm, cool and collected until their see their window of opportunity, then they will stop at nothing to fill the opposing net, like the lions fill their bellies.

Using an attitude of Hard Work will overcome all possibilities, each one of the girls is ready to dig in, to do anything to for the team. Blood is thicker than water, so the liquid that pumps in the chests of these girls will surely propel them to further accomplishments on the game’s frozen ponds. Terrific beginnings Rangers, keep those legs moving and those fires burning.
