Jr.Rangers vs Mantracker
To begin the 2014/2015 season, the players on the AAA Minor Atom team participated in a team-building event called ‘Mantracker’ which took place north of St. Jacob’s, Ontario. The players arrived at a country road and were divided into teams who were to collect flags that were hidden in the countryside. The teams were to collect the flags before they were caught by two people on horseback that searched for them 10 minutes after their start. Along the way to reach their destination at a farm, a few boys got stuck in the mud (after a very rainy day the day before) and did their best to stay quiet to hide from the mantracker horses searching for them. Lots of laughs were had along the way and a few calories were burned running. The coaches have never had as much exercise themselves in a long time with all of their running and hiding from the horses! The kids loved having the coaches hiding and running with them. The entire team ended up back at the Equestrian farm where they had fun horsing around in the hay and hanging out with the animals. This type of teamwork off the ice joined the players together in a different way and showed them the importance of working together on and off of the ice. The smiles from the entire team and coaches made for an experience that they won’t forget!
