Jr. Rangers Minor Midget AA eliminate Hamilton Huskies
The 5th seeded Kitchener Jr. Rangers Minor Midget
AA Hockey club took a 4-0 point lead in the first to 6 point series down to
Hamilton on Monday Evening looking to knock off the the 4th seeded Hamilton
Huskies.
The Huskies came physical and their efforts paid off with a quick snap shot goal that just beat Justin Osolnik, giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. The Rangers came out inspired in the second and were rewarded when Nic Weicker hammered home his first of the playoffs from the point, tying up the game at 1-1. Rangers continued to push and found themselves on the powerplay. Zach Ribeiro deposited a rebound over the goalie and the Rangers took a 2-1 lead going into the 3rd stanza. The Huskies playing for their lives found a way and tied the game up with 6:48 mark of the 3rd. Overtime saw the Huskies on the powerplay and Justin Osolnik shut down any chances and the game ended up finishing with a 2-2 draw. Osolnik made 21 saves.

The series shifted back to Activa- PJD in Kitchener where despite the weather had a full crowd on hand to see the Rangers try to eliminate the Huskies. The Huskies controlled most of the 1st period and found themselves up 1-0 after 1 period. The Rangers fought the puck but stuck with it and finally got on the board with 5:30 remaining when Luke Kozak was sprung on a breakaway and beat the goalie tying the game at 1 aside. The Rangers got a powerplay and Nathan Von Hatten potted a one timer home just 5 seconds after the powerplay expired, giving the Rangers a 2-1 lead. The Huskies bounced right back and scored 7 seconds later. The scored remained 2-2 going into the 3rd period. The Rangers came out inspired and played Ranger hockey shift after shift. They had a flourish of chances and the tie was finally broken when Ryan Stahley jammed home a rebound with 5:50 remaining in the 3rd period. The Rangers tightened up defensively and killed off a 6-4 for the last 1:21 to hold off the Huskies and win game 4 clinching the series for the Rangers. Morgan Heinbuch had 22 saves in the win.
