Red is blue as Blue doubles Red
This one was circled on the calendar as soon as the schedule was released - PJD, hometown fans throughout, many former teammates facing off against one another. As Dan would say, "It's gonna be a barn burner!" And it was.
Both teams played their hearts out and neither team could put one past the goalies for nearly half the game until Sierra drove to the net, banked a hard shot off the goalie's pads, and tucked her own rebound into the net. Less than a minute later, Avery took a nice pass from Aspen, took it to the net with authority, and snapped in our 2nd goal of the night. Chloe played an amazing first half, shutting down every attempt made. One particular save shocked everyone - Chloe flashed the leather at the midpoint of the 2nd that drew gasps from the entire arena. Taylor came in and continued to keep them off the board until late in the 3rd. Taylor faced a strong attack, stopped the initial shot, but the shooter was able to gather the rebound and find an open winger at the side of the net who finished with a good shot to bring them to within one. There were tense moments down the stretch where Red loaded up a stronger line and pulled the goalie in an effort to even the score. But, we stood strong, rolling all of our girls evenly, and trusted that Taylor would hold on - and she did. The whole team was extremely happy about the win. Way to go Blue!
