Saturday vs. Sunday
The Kitchener Lady Rangers Midget "A’s" made a Saturday visit
to the Allman Arena for Stratford’s Home Town Hockey Day and travelled on Sunday
to the Acton Arena for the Halton Twisters Pink the Rink Day. And what a
difference in days there was!
Coming as close to full strength as the team has been in months, Saturday’s performance in Stratford was a game that lacked any flow, sustained pressure or opportunity. Despite outshooting the Aces, Stratford capitalized on two missed “F3” assignments for a well-earned “W”.
A day later, the ladies suffered the same early “F3” fate. However it was at that point that any resemblance to Saturday’s game disappeared. The ladies applied sustained pressure, generated opportunity and dominated the play with smart choices and options.
We are not certain of what the “difference in days” was that had you playing such a determined Sunday game after Saturday’s lackluster performance. We do know that we have higher expectations than that of Saturday’s play (and know these are reasonable expectations given your play Sunday). Remember competing is an “all of the time” thing, not a “some of the time” thing. And you don’t get to choose.
You are a great group of skilled and talented ladies who we enjoy coming to the rink with weekly, but you need to come to compete every game. You are selling yourselves short otherwise.
