Rangers Not in a Giving Mood in Burlington
The Rangers Red travelled to Burlington to take on the Jr Cougars on Sunday and were not in the giving spirit as they blanked the Cougars 4-0!

On what the coaches all agreed was our most complete game of the year from start to finish the Rangers pushed their unbeaten streak to 5 games now posting a 4-0 win over the Cougars from Burlington.

The majority of the first period was spent in the Cougars end as all 3 forward lines were beasts on the forecheck creating turnovers and generating repeated chances on the Cougar netminder.  The line of Brock Smith, Noah Raymond, and Brett Peeler had multiple chances created by their hard work and with a little time left in the frame Smith potted one off of a rebound to give the Rangers the lead assisted by Raymond and Peeler.

The second period the Rangers maintained their intensity but were not rewarded.  The defence pairing of Bradley Wigmore and Owen Stewart shut a number of Cougar attacks down and transitioned the puck well to offence.  Brody Voll and Tyler Andrews followed suit with their play thwarting a couple of odd man Cougar rushes and moved the puck very well out of our zone.

The Third period which has typically been the Rangers best this season continued to be and then some as the boys struck for 3 in the final frame to tame the Cougars.  Daniel Deckert and Sean Disbrow did an incredible job on the PK early in the period hemming the Cougar powerplay deep in their zone.  This led to an amazing Shorty scored by Deckert on an all effort play to give the Rangers a two goal cushion.  The Rangers used this lift to create more and more chances and they struck again on a beautiful backhand shelf deke from Brock Smith assisted by Noah Raymond and Ethan Goetz.  Then with a couple minutes left to play the line of Sam Clark, Joel Guse, and Rowan Dunlop had a great two way shift which ended with another big goal from Sam Clark on a sweet little cross crease deke to finish the scoring and the Cougars on the night assisted by Guse and Dunlop.

Although not tested an awful lot in this game, Nathan Hancock continues to make big saves at critical moments in games which happened on a couple of occassions in this game were a big save led to a goal on the other end for the Rangers.  This steady play helped Hancock earn his 2nd shutout of the season.  Brock Smith for his disciplined two way play and big two goals took home the last Workhorse of the Game for 2018!

An excellent first half of the season boys, looking forward to what 2019 brings!

Happy Holidays to all the Ranger Families, be safe and have fun!
