Rangers continue unbeaten streak
Game Captain Joel Guse led the Rangers Red on the ice to take on the West London Hawks from the friendly confines of Grand River Arena in Kitchener.

The Rangers Red continue their unbeaten streak with a great performance in sweeping the home and home series with the West London Hawks in a big 5-0 win.

The first period saw the Rangers Red continue their quick starts to games which led to a quick strike by Brock Smith less than 2 minutes into the game assisted by Brett Peeler.  The Rangers continued to swarm the Hawks in their own end creating a number of chances to score and before the period was over the boys were rewarded with two more goals.  Joel Guse potted a bang bang goal in front of the net after some good zone cycling from his linemates Sam Clark and Rowan Dunlop who drew assists on the goal.  Then just over a minute later Brock Smith went to work again on a lovely feed from Noah Raymond to give the Rangers a three goal cushion at the end of period.

The 2nd period saw a parade to the penalty box with 4 minor penalties called on London.  The Rangers took advantage of the open ice and Brock Smith completed the hat trick on another assist from Brett Peeler half way through the period.  Two minutes later Sam Clark used his speed to get in on the goal party on a quick up feed from Alex Hamilton.

The 3rd period saw the Rangers continue their puck pursuit and pressure but both teams took some undisciplined penalties which created some more open ice.  The coaches reminded the boys to play hard but skate away from the after the whistle stuff.

Nathan Hancock was very solid in net for the Rangers, putting up his 3rd shutout of the year with some smart plays on the puck in our end and some very timely saves.

For his excellent D zone coverage, jumping up into the rush at the right times, and all around effort level Bradley Wigmore took home the Workhorse of the Game.

Next up for the Rangers is a tilt against the Burlington Selects on Tuesday night and a couple of practice slots.  Coaches have been really happy with the effort level and puck movement of the team over the past 4 games which has had a direct effect on our results!

Go Rangers Red Go!
