Rangers continue Unbeaten Streak in Brantford to kick off 2019!
Game Captain Sam Clark led the Rangers Red onto the ice to take on the Saints of Brantford.

A strong first and third period helped the Rangers Red to push their unbeaten streak to 6 games and get a jumpstart to 2019.

The first period saw the Rangers Red continue their quick starts as they pressured the Saints D into a number of turnovers which led to some high quality scoring chances.  The Rangers were rewarded for their hard work and at the 5 minute mark of the opening frame with a beautiful top glove snipe from Noah Raymond on a cross ice feed from Brock Smith and Bradley Wigmore.  Just over a minute later they were rewarded again on an awesome backhand drive from Sean Disbrow with assists going to Sam Clark and Joel Guse.  This effort put the Rangers up 2-0 to start the 2nd period.

The 2nd period was a little bit up and down on the pressure front from the Rangers, which led to more time spent in the D zone.  This led to a goal from the Saints that made this a 1 goal game with about half the game to still play.  Less than a minute after the Saints goal, Sam Clark went to work with a bullet to the top corner on a great feed from Ethan Goetz and a secondary assist from Rowan Dunlop to put the Rangers of Kitchener back up by 2 goals heading into the third period.

The third period has been a strong one for us and we continued that trend on the scoreboard but made it tough for ourselves as we got into some penalty kills situations and took a few too many long shifts.  2 minutes into the third the Saints made it a one goal game once again.  With a Ranger player in the penalty box the penalty killers did a great job of not letting the Saints get set up in our end and this pressure directly led to an odd man rush with Joel Guse putting the game away on a beautiful cross ice feed from Brock Smith.

Max Thompson was strong when called upon in this game to pick up the victory between the pipes.  Our D overall was stingy on the night, shutting down opposing forwards and picking up assists on two of the 4 goals.  Of note was the play of Tyler Andrews who on a number of occasions pushed forwards to the outside, made some great breakout passes, and led a couple of rushes down the ice.  This kind of effort earned him the first Workhorse of the game for 2019!

The game was what you would expect after a break, some good positives to build off of and some things to work on heading into a couple of practices coming up.  The coaches have been happy with the fact that through the past 6 games we have been getting scoring from all 3 forward lines with our D contributing offensively as well.

Go Rangers Red Go!
