For their fourth and final tournament of the season, the
Kitchener Lady Rangers travelled down the 401 to London to play in the 32nd Annual London Devilettes Tournament.
The Lady Rangers started the tournament against the Flamborough
Falcons. A slow start in the first saw few shots or scoring attempts at either
end. Failed defensive zone coverage early in the second gave Flamborough what
would be the eventual game winner as the ladies gave up two uncharacteristic shorthanded goals in both the second and third.
Game two against the second place West Division London
Devilettes saw the ladies play very strong first and second periods with
several good chances and well-executed power plays. Although scoring BOTH goals
in the third period, they were unfortunately as a result of tipping the puck
into our own net.
Game three was a very physical affair against the
Mississauga Hurricanes (#5879). After a solid first period, a weaker second
period goal put the Hurricanes up by one heading into the third. Taking a
season high “SIX” penalties as well as scoring another “goal on ourselves”, had
the ladies finishing the tournament on a strong note but not advancing out of
round robin play.
Remember what the weekend was for ladies. The real games are about
to begin.
We would like to acknowledge Ms. Adam for her “over the
boards” antics. Not sure who was laughing harder but a well-deserved “two
minutes” rest none the less. And not be out done, our thanks to Ms. Lloyd for her “kind”
words to the officials in sticking up for her line mate – “I doubt it” – and her
subsequent “two minutes” to think about same. In fairness, the coaching staff was aware of the
arena sign before the game 😊

Our thanks to all the Flamborough, London and Mississauga
players and staff for three great tournament games and our congratulations to
the London Devilettes for their “3-0” tournament final win over the Etobicoke
Dolphins.
The coaching staff would also like to extend our thanks once
again to tournament organizers Kathy and Greg for all their efforts. Sincerely
appreciated by all!
