With just five regular season games
to go and a playoff spot on the line, the Lady Rangers found themselves at “Home
with the Wild” for their final meeting of the regular season.
A good start to the first with all
three lines working hard had shots even and some nice saves at both ends. A
questionable “body checking” call shortly followed by a “hook” had the ladies
playing two short for just over a minute late in the first. Successfully
killing both those penalties, the ladies again found themselves shorthanded
just over a minute into the second. Another successful “PK” led to one the
goalie wished she could have back, putting the Wild up by one heading into the
break. Three minutes into the third, the Lady’s tied it up on one that “the
goalie wished she could have back” proving that there is never a bad shot on
net. A fourth “late” game Lady Ranger penalty would give the Wild the lead with just two
and a half minutes left in the third. With thirty seconds remaining, an empty net and a face off deep in the Wild zone, a faceoff win and shot
gave the Lady’s “one point” that they absolutely earned.
A strong, well-balanced
game today ladies. Every point is a good point and you certainly deserved to
come away with one. Let’s work on reducing the time spent in the “sin bin” and
keep putting those pucks towards the net!
