Rangers bow out in Quarter Finals at Badgers Winter Classic
The U13 Red Rangers had a tough division to navigate in the Badgers Winter Classic over Jan 21st weekend. The Rangers went 2-2 losing twice to the St. Catherines Badgers Red Team. 

The U13 Red Rangers went 2-2 in 4 games over the weekend losing in the quarterfinals to St. Catherines Badgers Red Team 3-0 with an empty net goal. 

The quarterfinal game was tight and evenly played until midway in the third when the Badgers finally put one by Lilly Ascencio. The scored again three minutes later to make it 2-0. Rangers pulled Ascencio but gave up a third goal in to the empty net. Rangers' player of the game was Piper Duquette. 

In the divisional play, the Rangers started off with a 3-1 win over the Waterloo Ravens #1 (. Waterloo took an early lead in the first period. The Rangers tied it up in the second on a goal by Kaydence Weichel. In the third the Rangers dominated the play and scored twice for the win. Third period goals by Aubree Verbaan assisted by Livy Pittaway and Weichel's second of the game assisted by Piper Duquette. Player of the game was Molly Harris. 

In the second game of the day, the Rangers faced the St. Catherines Red (18-0-0). The Rangers played hard and gave the Badgers all they could handle. The Badgers scored late in the first period to make it 1-0. The Rangers had came out flat and were chasing the play most of the first period.

In the second, the Rangers started to play Rangers hockey, but midway through the period, the Badgers scored again to make it 2-0.

in the third, the Rangers started to control the play and Kaydence Weichel scored to make the game 2-1 after taking a pass from Piper Duquette. The Rangers then pulled their goalie and gave up a empty net goal with 25 seconds remaining. 

The Rangers then faced a must win over the Stoney Creek Sabres Green (15-1-3) and have won two tournaments this year. The Rangers came out hard in the first but so did Stoney Creek and ended the first 0-0. The Rangers scored 4 minutes in to the second period on a goal by Kaydence Weichel. Weichel came down the wing and fired a shot over the Sabres goalie to make it 1-0. Weichel fired another shot by the goalie four minutes later to make it 2-0. The Sabres scored with 1:27 left in the second to make it 2-1. In the third, the play was wide open with both goalies playing outstanding. Lilly Ascencio shut the door on the Sabres stopping all 14 shots they put on net. Player of the game was Lilly Ascencio.

The Rangers played hard all weekend and deserved a better outcome. The St. Catherines Red, who praised the Rangers Red team,  won the tournament winning in the semis 5-0 and the finals 5-0.
