Woodstock Weekend
This past weekend the boys displayed what they are made off. It started off with a practice early Friday morning. The team worked very hard and skated their butts off. I believe this was one of the toughest practices so far this year.
We then traveled down the 401 to visit Woodstock. You could feel the nerves in the dressing room as this has been the only team to really score a lot against us in the first round. Not to say they haven't had to work, but this was one of the most frustrating games that another team caused through their play. We worked hard, but it appeared that our team just ran out of gas. It was a tough 5 - 2 loss and a long ride home. The Grinder of the Game went to Cooper who was a game time decision to play. He played through his illness and never gave up. Austin played a really good game in net as well.
Sunday morning arrived quickly and a few of the boys were not feeling well, it was looking like it was going to be another long game. However, those feelings of concern were soon forgotten. The boys came out flying and they were pressuring at every chance. We scored first on a great effort during a line change. Woodstock would not give up! They kept charging down the ice but with the combination of some great goaltending and solid defensive play, we held them off. Our play in their end was gaining energy and we scored another goal and even had a penalty shot. The boys played as a team and worked tirelessly! Grinder was awarded to Nolan for his bulldog pressure and relentless backchecking! Callum's duty in net was second to none!
All in all, it was a great effort from the whole team! I love to watch hockey like that, I'm sure all the families would agree.
