Teams about to be selected
I want to thank all the boys for attending the tryouts this year. No matter what, there are going to be some that are disappointed and I am sorry for that.
No matter who we select there will be questions and you guys all know by now, it is not a reflection necessarily of you, or what you can or cannot do on the ice, just as much it is what we see as coaches and that is not always perfect. By the same token there is something to be taken from the hockey system that most men your age have not experienced or are just experiencing for the first time. At 15 years old, most of you have been through this many times before, sometimes rewarded and sometimes let down. You guys, or most of you have been told at one time or another that you are being cut, that you are not good enough - some of you have heard that year after year, but still you come out and still you fight. At some point you will all be rewarded for this effort, some finally made it last year or the year before, but for fighters like yourselves there is always victory........ always! I hope you never forget that lesson, and don't ever take this as the reason to quit, instead, it should be experience you use. Take this ability to face adversity and use it at school, hold your head up in interviews when looking for work, whatever it is, you have already been there and done that. For many of your friends that will be applying for their first job, they will be unprepared, for you, it is old school. Go use this strength.
