After a late night (but a great night) at the Red Wings game, our opener against the Irish Rovers was tight and dramatic. After trading goals in the first period and a scoreless second, it was 1-1 at the start of the third period.  The Rovers scored midway through the third period and took a 2-1 lead. With 1 minute left in the 3rd, Cooper was brought to the bench and we iced another skater. Our offensive pressure was relentless - firing shots on net and digging for rebounds. Gabe jammed a loose puck into the net with 31 seconds left to tie it up.

We were back on the West 401 again, although a trip to Woodstock is often easier, and quicker, then driving from south Kitchener to north Waterloo. The boys looked rested and showed glimpses of the beautiful passing we saw in the semis and finals of the Oktoberfest tournament. With all the passing, it was a surprise to see D'Aguilar's first period goal was the only one registering an assist (from Birchie). Other scorers included Arges, Biggs, Max and Karsa "Lindros" Fathi. Strong defense resulted in very few shots on net and only one getting by Ollie the Goalie. The refs kept their whistles in their pockets and let the boys play resulting in a physical game with only one penalty. Final score was 5-1 for Blue. Go Rangers!

The boys looked sharp in their new pre-game warm-up shirts curtoesy of Zeus Supplements ,but as we all know, looking sharp is only half the battle. We looked sharp on the ice once we got the gitters out and started to skate and play as a team. Cooper didn't see a lot of action but he certainly made some beautiful saves to keep us in the game early - atta a boy Coop! After 2 periods we had a commanding 5-0 lead.
