Rangers win in Burlington on and off the ice

A great weekend in Burlington gave us all roller coaster emotions but the end result was worth the ride!

Well the tournament did not get off to the start we had hoped for. An old fashion whooping opened our Friday game. However a poised Head coach and a strong message of stay positive & be positive with each other followed by use this game as a springboard to fuel the emotions to play tougher, harder and with an edge (not over it just right on it) the rest of the way was the exit strategy after the 7-1 loss to Burlington Red.
& Wouldn't you know it Saturday brought new life into the dressing room with a Rangers team well focused (less one jock) and far more energized. The result on the ice was a well played 2-1 victory over a pesky Burlington white team. With great team efforts in both offensive and defensive zones. Big games by Connor Scott, Macquire Roughley, Nathan Bell, Lance Yorke and Carson Smallacombe lead the way to a resurgent Rangers squad and a much needed boost of confidence.
Between games a great brunch (quote the simpsons.... "its not quite breakfast not quite lunch but it comes with a slice of cantaloupe in the end") followed by an amazing team bonding experience was held at the escape rooms (Thank you Kristine Scott) The boys seems to gel well together and that would prove to be the same on the ice for our second game. Big games from Mike Zammit, Scott Movold, Hayden Schmuck, Tyrus Morrisette, Zander Wirshke & Ben Cooper lead the way to a 4-1 victory over Woodstock.
Semi Finals (talk about drama)
Well a game that was filled with everything you could want.
1-1 after 3 turned into a 4-4 3-3 2-2 and shoot out. With a massive performance from Cameron Bailey and big time scoring from Robert Fardy, Connor Scott, Tyrus Morrisette and Shoot out winner Jay("Whats my move")Sandhar. To give us the 2-1 victory over Burlington White.
Finals (get that Monkey off our backs)
Playing our nemesis Burlington Red in the finals presented the boys the opportunity to get pay back from Friday.
a great speech and one broken pen from coach Grant sent the boys charged up and mentally focused to play a championship game. scoreless through 2 periods the Rangers held firm to there commitment to playing a high F3 in the offensive zone and tight box in there own zone keeping the shots to the outside.
the third period saw the Rangers pour two goals in a Jay Sandhar quick release
& then an Ethan (Bobby Orr) Waddick end to end rush. had us out in front 2-0 strong play by Quinten Wilson, Jared Dewar, Ben Cooper and Cameron Bailey brought home the 2-1 Tournament championship.
Congrats Boys.
We the coaching staff admire your abilities to listen and implement our system. We stayed positive and played our game. We are proud of you!
Congrats... We climbed the mountain!
