Our Jr. Ranger Red team was asked to move up to an A/AA Division in the Buffalo Riverworks Tournament this past weekend... and we gladly accepted the challenge!
What a fantastic weekend our team had in Buffalo. The boys played awesome all weekend long and faced some really strong competition. We were the only MD team or B+ USA ranked team in our division. We told the team if they just go play hard and compete, no matter what the score we would be proud of them.
The boys accepted our challenge and played their hearts out knowing they would have to use this experience as a development opportunity to play higher level hockey.
We had a ton of fun, the boys played at the hotel together, enjoyed team lunches as a group and visited the Mall that included their own indoor race track!
We began the tournament against another Ontario team "Richmond Hill Stars single A" and were off to a good start with a 1-1 tie. The next game was against a strong Toledo Cherokee "AA" team and we managed to play a real strong game earning a 3-3 tie before facing the Amherst NY "AA" team where the boys brought a really strong effort and a big 6-1 Win.
We were off to the Championship game, facing Toledo again. Facing a tough opponent we were outshot 30-18 and the better team won that day 2-1.
All and all an amazing experience for our boys and we are extremely PROUD of the effort they brought in a tough division.
WAY TO GO RED!!!
