The Minor Bantam MD Blue Kitchener Jr Rangers season came to an end Friday evening against rival Kitchener MD Red to the score of 4-0 in the Alliance Tier 1 Playdown Semi Finals.

Hayden Smith maned the crease for the Rangers and despite the score made some huge saves under pressure. Smith was tested early and often and continually stood his ground against a strong Red offensive attack who threw 30 shots on net. Like fellow netminder Aiden Radatus has done all season, Smith once again rose to the occasion and put everything out there to give his team the best chance of winning. The Kitchener Jr Rangers MD Blue team opened game 1 of the Playdowns on fire and jumped to a 2 to 0 lead before the rival Red team put out their flames and beat the Rangers 6 to 2 on Wednesday evening.

Jacob Reid-Brant and Aiden Radatus shared Player of the Game Award for the team. Despite the score, which included an open net goal against, Radatus made 30 saves and put in a stellar game. The Kitchener Jr Rangers MD Blue team held on in the third period to get the 4 to 2 win against the Brantford 99ers. After pulling their goalie late in the 3rd the 99ers failed to capitalize as the Rangers defensive zone setup was to hard to breakthrough.

Noah Roden played a strong game for the Rangers and took Player of the Game and added an assist on the game winning goal. Roden continued to play a gritty style of hockey that rewarded him and the team with a big 2 pts coming down the stretch.

The Rangers had solid goaltending from Aiden Radatus who was once again sharp. This time it was the second period he was tested the most and came up with key saves to help the Rangers leave the period with a lead. Read More
