Rangers Rain on Thunder
The Kitchener Jr Rangers Select Blue team started their season off with a bang beating the Halton Hill Thunder 6 to 0 Wednesday night.

The Rangers had several players making their debut wearing a Rangers jersey and not only looked like seasoned vets but had outstanding games.

Michael Rogoz and Braeden Buck had two goal games. Rogoz first goal was set up by a beautiful Freddie Law pass and his second goal was an unassisted effort with Rogoz undressing the goalie. Buck’s goal was set up by Rogoz and Rogoz had a helper on the second, as did Law for his second assist of the night.

Will Halter parked in front and put home a brilliant centering pass from Ryan McConnell. Their line mate, Shawn Parliament, was a beast along the boards and won puck battles all night.

The Rangers played a solid puck possession game that revolved around a focus on puck movement. Brett Herniman and Logan Hock worked great with Jacob Ancich cycling the puck in the Thunder zone.  Ancich also showed character blocking shots for the Rangers.

Rashaun Williamson had an unassisted goal to go along with his typical stellar performance on defense. In fact, the Rangers defense was air tight. First year Ranger, Tyler Oude-Voshaar, controlled the play and made no mistake as he moved the puck up the ice. His partner, Ethan Shular, made some amazing rushes with the puck and was dangerous all game. Dezi Deneau was impressive with his patience and ability to read when he should rush and when he should pass. Evan Skipp had excellent gap control and forced play at the line making it difficult for the Thunder and his partner, Colin Starr, made an exciting play to go end to end before making a drop pass that almost led to a goal.

When the Thunder did make plays to get to the net the Rangers goaltender, Meghan Wright, was there to continually frustrate them. Wright played her first game as a Ranger and you could see as the game went on her confidence grow as she challenged and ate up loose pucks.

It was a solid start for the Rangers who will next travel to Burlington to face the Bulldogs. The Rangers will need to bring the same work ethic Sunday if they hope for the same results.

GO Rangers!
