The Kitchener Jr Rangers did a great job not letting some rough play take them away from playing to a win in a 4 to 1 triumph over the Brantford 99ers Saturday evening.
Credit to all the players for not getting carried away or pulled into taking selfish penalties as they passed the puck well and dominated possession.
Aiden Radatus saved his best save for near the end of the game when the Rangers made a rare turn over leading to Radatus stretching across to rob the 99er attacker. Radatus made several nice stops and controlled all the rebounds to the corners.
Stephen Peppas came out of the gate flying and was rewarded with the games first two goals. Peppas first was from Jacob Reid-Brant and Evan Peori with his second from Reid-Brant and Kodi Blackshaw. Reid-Brant then scored from Toby Pryce and Peppas. Blackshaw finished things off scoring on the powerplay from Caleb Cumming and Connor Coughlin.
The rock-solid Chad Morris was still on vacation, so Noah Park, Matt Gallant and Josh McDonald were all leaned on hard with extra ice time. Denver Heiman, Quinten Earle and Logan Duke helped out by playing solid in the defensive zone and the ever-moving Jake Fisher was a thorn in the 99ers side all night.
It was a solid win that helped keep the Rangers in the top spot in the playoffs and undefeated in league play this season, playing 24 games including the regular season and playoffs to date. The team has several areas they would like to tighten up but if the players continue to work hard and pay attention to detail their coaches are sure they will get there.
Go Rangers!
