Great Comeback Nets Tie against AAA Amherst
Team White came back from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits on Saturday to tie the Amherst Knights in the second game of our 2 game exhibition series.
With the theme from Rocky playing in the background and after 3 - 5 goal losses to the Knights previously, Team White were out to prove they were equal to the task of competing with a top squad.
The new pre game introductions and music changed the compete level for our team.
It didn't start well for the White as we fell behind 2-0 midway through the first period. But something clicked for our squad at that point. With Chase making the saves when needed, our team started taking the play to the Knights. Jared got things started, midway through the 2nd, with a goal from his stomach after a corner pass from Marko and an attempt by Pep. Big Nick tied things up early in the 3rd with a "take no prisoners" drive down the left side. A defensive breakdown led to a 3rd Amherst goal, which set the stage for Pep's drive down the middle for the tieing goal. Kudos to our defense for making the adjustments necessary to limit the shots. Congratulations Team White, you proved that you can come back against a good team. Things look good for our future.
White Helmet winner was Marko for his incredible backchecking which saved the day many times.
Game 1 on Saturday was a different story. White came out strong and within 5 minutes held a 2-0 lead. Preston started us off with a top shelf marker and then Max put us up by 2 with a rip from the point. Unfortunately that was all the good news for our team as Amherst scored 7 straight goals and ended up with an 8-3 win. Big Nick scored our 3rd goal. White helmet winner was Sam with a great 2 way effort at right wing.
