3 Game Weekend

We started the Tier 1 games with a heavy defeat last weekend against a team that played their best game of the season, so this past weekend was a chance to have games come thick and fast and get back into our game plan.

3 games in 3 days was a real test for the boys against 3 tough opponents.

Friday night was a great game against a very good Hamilton team, a clean game that was end to end for all three periods, a low scoring game due to both goalies playing exceptional hockey. Our three goals were fantastically taken, a PP goal, a PK goal and a defenceman rush end to end.

Saturday lunch time came around very quick for the boys as they travelled to Waterloo to face a very fast Black team that was ready and came out quick on a big rec centre ice surface.  It took the boys a few minutes to settle into the game and they took the chances given to them, again another great goalie performance.  The boys held on in the third but played great defence to finish it off and get the result they deserved.

Sunday evening was visit from Waterloo White in a rematch from seven days earlier, 2 goals in a minute and half put us down 2-0 without all of the boys even hitting the ice (first goal rolled in to the net after the whistle had blown, a very controversial goal).  The boys kept battling and were the better the team for 35 minutes of the 40 but unfortunately we had no puck luck and were on the end of a 4-3 loss.  The second and third period we played some of our best hockey of the season and this loss was the most we learned about ourselves since before Christmas.

Overall a very good weekend of hockey with some great individual performances and a team that keeps having fun, learning, coming together as a team day by day.
