A Sticky Situation
Saturday the Jr.Rangers drove out to Burlington for an away game. The game started with a curve ball when the Refs pointed out 2 players that did not have CSA Stickers on their helmets and were not allowed to play unless they had them. Angelo quickly found a sticker but Scott did not so we played hot potatoe with the helmets to try and get everyone a fair chance to play. Lines were scrambled, positions were never consistent, and the boys were rattled right from the start. Taking the play to the Bulldog's. Maddux, Aidan, & Sam, had scoring chances that just missed the net or a good save by the Bulldog's goaltender.
We spent most of the time in the Bulldog's end but when the play shifted to ours Connor " the Bulyaki Wall" came through with a glove or a pad save for us. Period two came and saw us with more glorious scoring chances with the puck just being out of reach or just off our stick. Jack, Owen M. Cole and Quinten each had shots at breaking 0-0 draw but again the breaks didn't fall our way. Finally the great passing of Antonio to Aidan to Maddux had us on the board with a beauty goal. 1-0 Rangers. The third period saw the Bulldog's take the game to us and we held the fort with a solid play by Angelo, Jack, Logan, Nathan, Ben and Keelan. The D was pretty solid all game long. Carson was between the pipes now and made a huge save off a hard tipped shot that he stretched out and kicked to the corner. We had numerous chances with great cross ice passes and open nets that we just had trouble handling. With 4 mins to go, the Bulldog's scored to tie it up at 1-1 firing a shot from the slot into the right side of the net. We lost our bearings just for a couple of minutes and again the Bulldog's pounced on us scoring on a one timer from the slot. With a minute to go, the boys were down..... BUT NOT OUT. With the entrance music of the Scorpions "Rock You Like A Hurricane"... Here I am, Jack M. came off the bench with Madddux, Antonio, and Aidan. The Goalie pulled, the boys pressed hard in the Bulldog's end with a great fore check and a wicked pass in the slot where Jack M. came up huge, with a rocket shot into the top shelf of the Bulldog's net. Earning him Hard worker of the game giving us a tie with the Bulldog's. Special thanks to K. Sachs who subbed for injured Luke and did a good job. Also thanks to Luke for showing up to support the team.
