Red and Bue Rangers Tie
The Kitchener Jr Rangers MD Red team tied 3 to 3 against the Kitchener Jr Rangers MD Blue team Saturday afternoon.

As always the game was entertaining and filled with excitement in both ends of the rink. The two Rangers teams seem to always bring their best play out against each other.

Carter Niall opened the scoring for the Red team on the power play and was set up by Justin Hay on the play. It was the first goal of the game after almost two full periods of scoreless end to end action. Niall's goal was in the final minute of the period. However, Colin Starr responded for Blue on the penalty kill. Starr's hard work paid off and he was able to fire the puck down and have a fortunate bounce to get the goal. Red responded shortly after with a Braydon Houlihan goal from Yianni Peppas and Carter Bowman. The resilient Blue team tied it up again a minute later with an Owen Stewart goal from Erin Macpherson. Blue then went ahead when Josiah Albretch picked off a clearing attempt and put the puck top shelf for the unassisted goal.

With the goalie pulled and time running out in the game the Red team pulled their goalie looking for the equalizer. For the second period in the row the Red team was able to get a goal with only a minute left. This time it was the games hero, Keenan Hack, scoring from Niall for the tie.

The Red team followed the game plan and pressured the puck all game. Their team was led by tireless battling for puck possession and they had stand outs in that regard with Logan Hock, Josh McDonald, Rashuan Williamson and Noah Park. Connor Coughlin, Brett Herniman and Denver Heiman were thorns in the Blue teams side all game and did a great job fore-checking all game. Nicholas Zammit and Jacob Fisher played outstanding two way games and fought hard for the Rangers.

Hayden Smith earned the tie for the Red team and showed a lot of character in the game. Smith made some tough stops for the team and never gave up on the team. His never give up attitude helped rally his team as they wanted to see Smith get the win. Despite leaving with only a tie the team was proud of their effort.

The Red team is looking to clinch a top three spot with a win tomorrow in Burlington. On behalf of the Rangers Red team I would like to congratulate the Kitchener Jr Rangers MD Blue team on clinching top spot. Well done Rangers!

Go Rangers!
