Stratford Early Bird Tournament Champions!
The Major Peewee MD Red Team kicked off their season with a huge tournament win in Stratford...on the weekend of Sept. 28 - 30.
With a few practices under their belts, the boys headed into the weekend looking forward to their first taste of game competition...at the Stratford Early Bird Tournament.
Facing off against a talented Bandits team from London in game 1, the boys came out on the short end of the score sheet by a 4-2 margin...giving up 2 late goals with about 3 minutes left to play.
With plenty of positives to draw on...the "goal" was to keep improving every game..bit by bit...and that's exactly what happened in game 2 vs Cambridge...with the Jr. Rangers pulling out a hard fought, 3-0 victory.
Game 3 saw the team suit up against the West London Hawks...and after the final buzzer, the boys had pulled off their 2nd straight victory.
Game 4 was a highly entertaining game against the Hamilton Huskies which ended with the Jr. Rangers capturing their 3rd victory of the tournament...and booking their ticket to the championship game Sunday morning.
Squaring off against the undefeated London Bandits one more time...the team played their best hockey of the weekend...earning a well-deserved 2-1 victory...and bringing home the championship!!
An incredible effort by the boys...and an amazing way to start the season!
Congratulations fellas...We are all very proud of you!
